Parties - Beyond the Full Moon
Pretty much every night is party night at Haad Rin, though with far fewer revellers than the main full moon event attracts. And there are many other parties organised at various outdoor locations around the island. The party culture on Koh Phangan seems to be evolving, and and there is a new trend towards smaller venues with more thoughtful organisation. Look out for posters on the back of taxis advertising upcoming events.
Pubs, Bars and Night Clubs
There are many pubs, bars and night clubs on Koh Phangan island. These are great places to drink, meet other travellers or just to hang out. There is occasional live music and at some venues there are regular parties with djs playing live. Bars can be found all over the island though Haad Rin is the party capital. If nightlife is what you came to Thailand for, then you are best staying there. Just about everywhere else on the island is quiet by comparison.
Bars and Bar Girls
A fairly recent development on Koh Phangan is the appearance of Patong-style girlie bars. A proliferation of them has opened along the main road between Thongsala and Haad Rin. There are a lot of myths regarding Thai prostitutes, myths these bar girls play out for money. Enter at your own risk!
