Our Philosophy
Horizon Thai Boxing Camp was set up primarily to provide comprehensive, authentic Muay Thai boxing tuition for novices and seasoned fighters alike. In keeping with traditional Thai boxing camps, visitors have the option to live and eat in an informal environment at the camp. We cater to independent tourists and also run a number of all-inclusive Muay Thai tours each year. Revenue generated from training fees is invested directly for the benefit of our customers; it is not used to subsidise our Thai fighters’ existence or to prop up another side of the business. Our Thai fighters earn their own money from professional Muay Thai fights and receive a wage from us for assisting our instructors with training. Whether you plan to train for one hour or for one year at Horizon Thai Boxing Camp you will receive the same dedicated instruction. Please note that although contact is optional, full-contact sparring is a normal part of Muay Thai training in Thailand (and yes, sometimes it hurts) but its purpose is not to cause injury. Sparring, as with all aspects of Muay Thai training, is fully supervised and should be undertaken in a spirit of friendly cooperation. Trainees, who persistently ignore instruction and spar with too much force or aggression, risking injury to themselves and their opponents, may be asked to cease training.

A Brief History of Horizon Thai Boxing Camp
Horizon, a small bungalow resort catering to foreign backpackers was set up as our family business in the year 2000. Co-owner Ex has long been a Muay Thai boxing enthusiast, and initially we began offering Thai boxing lessons only as a sideline. The years to follow have seen a steady transformation to the fully established training camp we have today. Horizon Thai Boxing Camp was registered as a limited company in August 2002. April 2004 saw the arrival of our first Muay Thai tour group and its considerable success set the tone for the years to follow. The number of Thai fighters we have training at the camp varies. Children of school age only train with us during the school holidays, as the nearest high school is too far away for them to make the daily trip. We don’t want them to miss out on a proper education. The number of foreign visitors training at the camp fluctuates with the cycle of the moon and seasonal trends. The busiest months are usually January and February. The quietest months are October and November. Horizon Camp is still quite small. We rarely have more than 10 foreign visitors at each training session. Though expect more during our tours. We have already begun work to expand the gym because if many more of you turn up next year there will be no space to train!
What else is there to do at Horizon Thai Camp?
We also offer courses in traditional Thai massage and cooking authentic Thai food. Courses run Monday through Friday and must be booked ahead.
